Innovation Support Unit (UAI)
Mission
To support and provide advice at the various stages of the innovation or transfer process, with the aim of enabling these ideas or proposals to become products or services that add value to the healthcare system and society.
Description
It is a Research Support Service (SAI) that helps channel innovative ideas or proposals from the hospital environment. The unit provides advisory and liaison services for all those who require assistance at any stage of the innovation or transfer process: evaluation of ideas, valorisation of research ideas and results, support in drafting and planning innovation projects, prototyping, funding searches, searches for technological and/or commercial partners, advice on Industrial and Intellectual Property protection strategies, advice on technology transfer procedures, licences and company creation. The aim of these activities is for innovative projects in these areas to have greater potential to be transferred to society in general and to patients in particular.
The IiSGM Innovation Support Unit (UAI) also provides training and information on transfer processes in order to bring the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship closer to the health sector.
Services offered
The Unit provides support at each stage of the innovation process. In order to cover all these stages, the Unit maintains partnerships with external entities, such as patent offices, consultancies, companies, etc.
- Evaluation of ideas
- Support in the valorisation of ideas and research results
- Prototyping (functional analysis and technical assessment, design, prototype manufacture)
- Support in the drafting and planning of innovation projects
- Funding search
- Support in the search for technological or commercial partners
- Contractual advice (drafting collaboration agreements, licence agreements, etc.)
- Advice on matters relating to the protection strategy for Industrial and Intellectual Property
- Advice on procedures for technology transfer, licensing and company creation
- Dissemination activities
- Training activities in innovation management, creativity and entrepreneurship
Location
The SAI Innovation Unit is located in the Government Pavilion of Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón (HGUGM).
