Innovation Support Unit (UAI)

1 - Idea assessment

The UAI will assess the information relating to the outcome of the R&D&i developed and inform the Innovation Committee about the advisability of managing the protection and commercialisation of these R&D&i outcomes. Where appropriate, if it deems it pertinent, the Committee may recommend that the FIBHGM finance such protection.

2 - Development and valorisation

The UAI will support the IISGM’s innovation projects and, subject to the availability of resources, their technological development, the search for industrial and technological partners, the search for funding, the definition of the business model, and technology transfer activities, including the preparation of related agreements, the search for licensees and the monitoring of collaborations.

3 - Financing of innovation

Payments related to the protection of industrial and intellectual property, which have received a favourable assessment from the UAI, are proposed to the Innovation Committee and approved by the management of the FIBHGM. In cases where the Innovation Committee issues a favourable report on the protection of industrial property, as a general rule, the FIBHGM will finance the application (Spanish or European) and maintenance during the first five years of the priority patent or priority utility model, that is, up to and including the 5^th year.

4 – Collaboration of the inventors

The inventors must collaborate with the FIBHGM in everything necessary to obtain adequate protection of intellectual and industrial property rights and, where applicable, their transfer. This will include, among other aspects, signing public or private documents that may be necessary before any competent national or foreign industrial or intellectual property office so that the FIBHGM is recorded as the holder of the industrial and intellectual property rights over the outcome of the R&D&i.
