25/01 LIVERSEMINARS IiSGM JANUARY 2019-IDIBAPS

The research institutes of Gregorio Marañón Hospital in Madrid and Clinic Hospital in Barcelona have designed a joint programme of scientific seminars on basic and translational research in hepatology. They will feature speakers from the United States and Europe and will be open to all researchers from any Spanish institution. As part of this programme, the speakers visit the hospitals to meet with teams of professionals.

The Gregorio Marañón Institute for Health Research (IiSGM) in Madrid and the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS) in Barcelona have created a joint programme of scientific seminars on basic and translational research in hepatology.

The programme is hosting the most prestigious international scientists in the field of hepatology. The seminars are held once a month, alternately at the IDIBAPS headquarters in Barcelona and the IiSGM headquarters in Madrid, with a live broadcast to the institution not hosting the seminar in person.

LiverSeminars is supported by Gilead Sciences, the Centre for Biomedical Research Network on Hepatic and Digestive Diseases (CIBEREHD) and the Spanish Association for the Study of the Liver (AEEH).

In this initiative, contact with the expert is not limited to the seminar: the programme also seeks to create new scientific synergies; each speaker spends the entire day at the host institution, where the opportunity arises to meet with local research teams.

The next conference will be held on Wednesday 5 December 2018 at 16:00, given by Deborah Burks, PhD and director of the Príncipe Felipe Research Centre (CIPF), entitled "IRS Signaling in Hepatic Insulin Resistance: Implications for Liver Plasticity and Chronic Metabolic Diseases" .

The programme is open to researchers from any Spanish institution. Research groups (regardless of their home institution) interested in meeting with the guest expert may request this via the website: http://liverseminars.eu

The auditoriums where the seminars will be held will also be open to the entire research community in their geographical area of influence. Finally, recordings of the LiverSeminars will be available on the same website.
