This edition features a large panel of international guest speakers, including Drs P. del Nido from Boston, R. Muñoz from Pittsburgh, L. West from Toronto, G. Wernowsky from Miami, F. Berger from Berlin, D. Barron from Birmingham, N. Haas from Freiburg and JC Alejos from Los Angeles.
The main topics are pulmonary atresia with VSD. In surgery, palliative switch and surgery on stents. In interventional cardiology, new developments in the closure of perimembranous VSDs, bioresorbable stents, prostheses in the pulmonary position and hybrid procedures in biventricular physiology. ABO-incompatible transplantation. Preparation for delivery in the foetus with congenital heart disease. New developments in: devices for arrhythmias, pulmonary vasodilators, cell therapy, sedation and anaesthesia strategies, ECMO. In general cardiology, nosocomial infection and RSV, bioethics, quality of life, and long-term neurological prognosis. New research and innovation projects in e-Health, telemedicine, simulation, 3D printing and network management will be presented.
COURSE IN INSTRUMENTAL TECHNIQUES (3rd edition):
From 8 to 18 June (Mon 8, Wed 10, Thu 11, Mon 15, Wed 17, Thu 18 ) from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Seminar Room (1st Floor) of the Experimental Medicine Building (Prefabricated Pavilion), a new edition of the Experimental Techniques in Biomedical Research Course will take place.
The aim of this course is to provide attendees with a basic understanding of the methodologies and technology commonly used in a research laboratory, from both a basic and applied or clinical perspective, and with a clearly biomedical focus.
It is not intended to delve into specific diseases or particular medical disciplines, but rather to offer an overview of the technology and methodologies applicable to biomedical research, and for this knowledge to enable attendees to design new research projects or address any shortcomings or needs they may encounter in the development of their ongoing projects or clinical work.
In addition to its educational objective, this course aims to showcase the wide range of laboratory techniques and methods that form part of the scientific knowledge of the Institute’s researchers. It is therefore open to participation by people from the IiSGM who wish to present their technological experience. This encourages technical knowledge-sharing among researchers, which may lead to future collaborations.
Furthermore, through this medium, the Research Support Services (SAI) will participate as a means of disseminating the services they provide.

Information Brochure: II Experimental Techniques in Biomedical Research Course Experimental Techniques Course Programme in Biomedical ResearchWORKSHOP: INTRODUCTION TO PRECLINICAL MOLECULAR IMAGING AND APPLICATIONS IN BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH
This course, organised by Carlos III University of Madrid and the Health Research Institute of Gregorio Marañon Hospital, will take place from 9 to 11 September in
Madrid. It is aimed at young researchers, doctors, veterinarians, technicians and scientists interested in the application of in vivo molecular imaging.
The course consists of theoretical sessions providing a brief introduction to the physical principles of each imaging modality, in order to better understand the applications of these modalities to preclinical biomedical research. Practical demonstrations of the imaging techniques presented in the theoretical sessions will also be carried out in small groups.
Registration period: From 6 May to 31 May.
