Cardiovascular Diseases

Coordinador:

Dr. Javier Bermejo

The Cardiovascular Diseases Area represents the entire broad spectrum related to this major health problem in Western societies, reflecting aspects of basic research and, very importantly, clinical research, including various emerging and associated clinical groups from very different hospital services. An important particularity of this area is its cooperative vocation. In fact, one of its groups coordinates RECAVA, the national network for the study of these diseases funded by the Carlos III Health Institute.

Furthermore, this area accommodates basic research groups based at the Complutense University and includes far-reaching agreements with US universities for the development of the ambitious artificial organ generation programme. In addition, the Cardiovascular Diseases Area is committed to a strong focus on undergraduate teaching and, most importantly, on the training of research personnel.
