Immune System Pathology

The general objective of this area is the pathophysiology and clinical research of immune-mediated and chronic inflammatory diseases, and it includes several basic and clinical groups from different related specialities. In addition to its scientific and social relevance, the importance of this area within the Institute is demonstrated by the current reality of its scientific output and by the breadth of its research lines set out in this cooperative scientific project, which are related to basic and clinical Immunology, Rheumatology, Allergy, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Pharmacogenetics, Haematology and Neurology.
In this regard, the area’s participation in numerous publications by groups belonging to other areas of the Institute is noteworthy, undoubtedly furthering the philosophy of cooperative research, the fundamental basis of Health Research Institutes.
