Good clinical practice for researchers
This UAM course has the general objective of training clinical researchers and co-investigators in the different aspects of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), based on the ICH E6 (R3) document on Good Clinical Practice (International Conference on Harmonization). It also aims to train and update researchers on the regulations currently in force in Spain and on the ethical aspects relating to the conduct of clinical trials.
GCP regulations are an international standard of scientific and ethical quality aimed at the design, conduct, recording and reporting of trials involving human subjects. Compliance with this standard publicly ensures the protection of the rights, safety and well-being of the subjects participating in the trial in accordance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki, as well as ensuring the credibility of the data obtained in a clinical trial. Spanish legislation in Royal Decree 1090/2015 on clinical trials mentions in Article nº 1 the obligation to apply GCP standards to the planning, conduct, recording and communication of all clinical trials carried out in Spain.
